AgenticAI Core is a Python SDK for building structured multi-agent AI systems that execute through an MCP-based runtime and deploy to the AgenticAI platform. The SDK supports multi-agent orchestration, tool-based execution (Python and external integrations), scoped memory persistence, custom orchestration strategies, and deterministic packaging via.kar deployment archives.
A strict separation exists between design-time configuration (application structure) and runtime execution (request handling and routing).
Architecture Model
Design-time defines the static structure of the application (App → Agents → LLM/Prompt/Tools → Memory). Runtime handles request execution via the MCP server, which forwards requests to an orchestrator that selects an agent, invokes LLM reasoning and tool calls, and returns a final response to the client. The MCP server acts as the execution boundary, and the orchestrator controls routing, continuation, and multi-agent coordination.Core Components
Application (App)
TheApp object is the root container that defines application metadata, agent composition, memory stores, and orchestration strategy.
Agents
Agents encapsulate reasoning and domain behavior. Key configuration fields includetype (AUTONOMOUS or PROXY), sub_type (REACT or PROXY), role (SUPERVISOR or WORKER), llm_model, and associated tools.
Tools
Tools provide structured execution interfaces callable by agents. They may be MCP tools defined via@Tool.register, knowledge/RAG-backed tools, or external integrations. Tools should be atomic, deterministic, and explicitly described to improve invocation reliability.
LLM Models
LLM models define inference behavior and runtime limits such as temperature and token count. Configuration directly affects latency, cost, and determinism.Prompts
Prompts combine system instructions, domain-specific constraints, and optional rule sets to shape reasoning boundaries and tool invocation discipline.Memory Stores
Memory stores persist state across conversations and support SESSION_LEVEL, USER_SPECIFIC, and APPLICATION_WIDE scopes with configurable retention policies.Orchestration
Orchestration governs routing and execution flow and can use SUPERVISOR or CUSTOM_SUPERVISOR strategies. Custom implementations inspect conversation context and dynamically select agents.Workspace Structure and Installation
The workspace includes SDK wheels inlib/, a CLI entry point (run.py), a structured src/ directory for application code, environment configuration under .env/, and packaging utilities.
Typical structure:
.venv and installs dependencies from local wheels and requirements.txt. The virtual environment must remain named .venv to avoid oversized deployment archives.

Application Development Workflow
Development typically follows this sequence: define tools undersrc/tools/, optionally implement a custom orchestrator under src/orchestrator/, implement create_app() in src/app.py, run locally, then package and deploy.

Packaging produces a.kar archive:
bin/<project>/ and include application.kar and application.config.json.
Deployment sequence:
appId and streamId for monitoring and testing.
Testing and Operations
Local validation should be completed before packaging by using the start command and an MCP client to verify routing and tool invocation. Deployment archives should remain under 1MB; verify that.venv or unintended directories are not included.
Common issues include inactive virtual environments causing import errors, incorrect environment variables causing deployment failures, and missing module imports preventing tool registration.
